Default Big oil pan / filter problem.....

Trying to finish getting the motor back in my car this weekend and went to put the filter on and fill it with oil and I couldnt get the fitler on, ive tried 5 different ones now and none will thread on, its like the pan has totally different threads on it? Its a brand new GM pan, never used before.

What are the thread specs on the oil pan, I want to run a die up the threads to make sure there perfect.

Don't know what the threads are, but there are (at least) two different ones. Truck pans have a slightly larger thread diameter than the car pans. I found out the same way you are finding out...

Well, actually I just figured it out, whatever thread that little thing hanging down is is TOTALLY wrong, the diameter of the part(which is removable with a 15/16 socket) is way bigger than my filter. This motor came to me as a truck one, so I had a truck pan laying around and I removed this peice from the truck pan and put it in the car pan. Problem solved.

To s10xgn: The truck and cars have the same thread, many car lsx guys use the extended capacity truck filters for more capacity (double, almost tripple) and a bigger filter.
