3" true dual x pipe muffler recommendations?
I have some dynomax bullets on there now, and it is rediculously loud. I want to bring the noise level way down so I don't get a modified exhaust ticket every weekend. I am looking for a small muffler to go inline between the axle and tip. This is a all the way out the back set up. What are your suggestions?

I have not been making long replies lately, but this is the same topic I have been researching since my current dual exhaust is almost as loud as open headers.
Here are my suggestions and comments (1-5 scale too):
Dynomax bullets - light, cheap, loud, loud as can be, 5
Moroso Spiral Flows - cheap, loudish, 4
Borla XR1 12" long - not too heavy, expensive, 3
Edelbrock RPM mufflers - not pricey, 3
Flowmaster one chamber - small, too loud, 5
Flowmaster low profile race - 3,5 oval inlet for me, small, not light, 5
Now Speed Inc. tells me that the ATR mufflers they sell are more quiet than a lot of the level 3 stuff I listed above. I have heard or personally used all of the stuff I have listed above. I am going to try the ATR mufflers with a 3" x pipe setup and turndowns, and I will post my feelings on this next week or the week after. They are stainless so they are like $125 each I think.
Hope this helps.

Pro Stock John, how did you like the RPM mufflers? I've got two of these coming for my 2 1/2" x-pipe dual system. I've got a local muffler shop doing the install and he told me to find the thinest case muffler I could. At 3-5/8" this is the thinest I could find. My main concern is ground clearance and sound level/quality.

I have the moroso's and they have to flow great. It's a very free flow design.
At first I wasn't to fond of them but they are growing on me. Sounds really nice the problem with my car though is the 4400 stall.. When I'm on the gas i'm ALWAYS in the high revving RPM's.. and you just don't have that growl up there... i don't think you would with any muffler/bullet setup.

Thanks for the replies. I will wait for John's review on the ATR mufflers. Have been leaning toward the borlas, but I can wait a couple weeks before changing. The bullets with the bigger displacement is like nascar loud. The 3800 stall doesn't help the noise level either. They are the 12" bullets that I have now.

Blur you dumping it at the rear axle? Tell us more?
BradWS6 has the 3' Edelbrock RPM muffler on his stroker with an X pipe setup. I know there are pics online somewhere let me ask him to link us.
I ordered the ATR mufflers from Tom at Speed Inc.
XR1's look like they are on sale at Summit, might want to check that out.
The ATR mufflers not cheap by any means but right now I want the car as quiet as possible, the louder it gets the lower my enthusiasm is to drive the car and work on it.
Bullets on a cammed setup is a track only setup IMO, I got pulled over the second time I drove the car with them on.
My current Flow's are just as loud but have a more tuned sound. I'm selling my 3.5 oval duals with the mufflers if anyone is interested.

That would be cool to see some pics of Bradws6's setup. It would give the guys at the muffler shop something to go by. I just hope these RPM's arent too loud. I'm like you John, a blaringly loud car just doesnt do it for me anymore.
