Question Will running cats with LT's affect A/F?

I have decided to get some Jet Hot LT's hopefully before Christmas, and was wondering if having the cats would affect the A/F ratio? Also, since most people end up running a little rich after getting LT's, I'm sure i will too. So what would I do to lean it out again? I don't know of any places here with a dyno, and nobody I know has autotap or anything similar. Would getting a ported TB help or am I just wishful thinking? thanks guys

first youre gonna need somesort of logging tool (like autotap) to make sure that you are running rich. to lean it out, the best way is with tuning, or you can get a MAF translator. good luck!

thanks for the help guys, but i cant afford a laptop and autotap, especially just for a header install. I'm kinda screwed on options, because the only local shop with a dyno has been shut down, and have no friends with laptop, much less Atap. As far as the MAF translator goes, does that really work? I heard it doesnt change much, but any opinions would be appreciated.

Like they said, without actually reading the numbers, you are shooting in the dark. A ported TB or new MAF (GMAF, SLP...), or even MAF ends will lean you out. But do you "need" it? On the other hand, they all add more power too....

will having cats, as opposed to a ORY, affect the A/F?

i dont think cats will change your a/f..but they will change your readings... and do not get a MAF...and theres no reason to get a MAFT without knowing what your doing and what needs to be done..i actually ran lean with headers..

You can run your car without tuning with the headers. Yes it will be a little rich, but only at WOT. Part throttle is taken care of by the PCM. In the mean time, save up for a Innovate wide band O2 meter, that's what you will need to tune it with. You can use either a MAFT or LS1edit after that to set the WOT mixture.
