Default Header flange not seating

The header flange does not completely seat with the 20ft/lbs of torque that I was told is correct, there is a little bit of fumes, I am using a factory gasket and the headers are stainless, must be a little warping of the flange I assume...what would be the best way to correct this?

i used a set of copper gaskets that were multi layered. i forget the maker of them, or if they even make them for ls engines. you could try putting a straight edge on them, maybe you could correct the problem. good luck

Take it to a muffer shop or machine shop that has a large belt type sander and "true" them.

What brand of headers are they? I had this problem myself. When putting the header on thread the rear and front most bolts first.

The headers are QTP and welded to the exhaust and don't wont to cut them off, my mechanic suggested maybe using two factory gaskets, might work the same as a multi-layer, does anyone know who makes one?

The factory gasket is a multi-layer gasket...
