Pacesetter quality?

Pacesetter quality?
The search never seems to work, so I will just ask. I would really appreciate it if some of you who have had Pacesetter headers on your F-bodies will respond with how long they lasted before they rusted through. I have heard, "Buy kooks or ARH, because Pacesetters will rust through in 3 or 4 years." Is this true? I live in Houston...very humid, and quite a bit of rain. I am a little concerned about buying them. Thanks for any input.

ive had mine on for 8 months and they have a little surface rust but i know a guy who has had his on for 3 years and are in the same shape as mine so i think they just tend to get some surface rust..and race style you can run cats or no cats up to you

Tony, EGR I believe stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. I don't believe it pertains to the headers.

ive had my pacesetters for maybe a little over 2 years with the pacesetter off road y pipe and ive been happy with them. no problems at all. i think you will be happy with them. the seat of the pants was very noticeable when i installed them. i had enough, to get Kooks, QTP, but for the money i was able to get me an slp lid, magnaflow catback, and pacesetter longtubes with money still left over.

Pacesetter are a good budget header. I bought a set and had them on the car for about 2 years. They were mostly on the car while living in North Carolina. They started to show rust after about 6 months. I liked them fine until the EGR tube weld broke. I now have QTP's and wish I would have went with those from the begining. If you do go with Pacesetter get the race style if you can and get them jet hot coated if your worried about rust.

rust won't be an issue as far as performance goes (unless the rust is eating through the primaries). mine have a little rust, some scrapes on the bottom, but i got them used for like 130 or 40ish. i rode in my buddy's car, basically stock like me, with QTP stainless, and it felt exactly the same. if i had money to throw around, i'd go with some good stainless, but it's all the same to me.

Good header. You'll probably get some surface rust (esp around the collector) after a year or so. But that in no way effects anything. Hell I've installed mild-steel shorty heads on an old SBC before and the damn things still lasted 3-4 years until I sold the car.
I'd say your good for 5+ years easy as long as it's not driven in salt everyday.
Too me a good starting out point is Pacesetters, and when your engine needs it step up to the 1 7/8" ARH headers. I didn't feel like spending coin on 1 3/4" headers when I knew in a couple years I would probably need to upgrade.

I'm lookin to upgrade my completely stock system with LT headers & catted Y...but I think my priorities are (1=most important)
1: Ground Clearance
2: Price
3: Lifespan (5+ years)
From what I've been reading, Pacesetters seem like a good candidate (although I have NO idea what to do for catted Y). As far as trying to make Pacesetters last longer, anyone have any experience with putting a wrap on them? I hear that it's supposed to help a lot, but I'm worried because I've heard about moisture problems. Anyone have any experience with that?

You pretty much always get what you pay for.
I have pacesetters there quite good for the money........
If not just go ahead and get the Kooks a sponsor had them for a good price.
