Default Rattling sound coming from exhaust

I have a rattling sound coming from my exhaust when I first start my car. It only last the first 10-30 seconds or so, and mostly does it when idling.

Anyone have any idea what this is? Hole in exhaust, broken cat or muffler?

The sound has just recently started. Any idea what would be loose? I haven't had time to get under the car and check it out, but I wanted some insight before I start looking around.

I had the same thing happen to my car turned out that one of the cats went bad. I guess the material inside came loose and it sounded like loose scrap metal banging around in th cats. Check that out, if you dont have cats then I dont know what to tell you.

I hear its a common thing with Y pipes in our cars when they are cold. I assume it goes away after i warms up? Search for banging y pipe, or something like that, may help. I think they make a bracket you can mount up if its that annoying.

the heat shield for the gas tank rubs the top of my Corsa muffler for about the first 20-30 seconds, after I put it in gear, it goes away.

If its the y pipe then you might have to replace your motor mounts.

I got under the car today to see if anything was loose, and I think it might be the muffler. I knocked on my muffler with my hand and on one of its sides I heard some metal rattling. Should I be hearing a loose metal sound inside the muffler when I tap on it? This was all while the car was turned off.

Also I can only hear it when I rev the engine a little, so I couldn't pinpoint it while the engine was on since I was by myself.

I've got that too, I'm fixing it with headers and true duals tomorrow lol, I'm tired of it. One of my cats rattle and the clamp for the catback/ I pipe connection. I've tightened it with an impact and a three foot rachet. It goes away and comes back. It only happens when I first start the car so that might be something to check for. Grab on the the cat back right by that clamp and wiggle/rock it and see if its loose.
