lol...lack of backpressure making your car run like ****...that's funny.
my 3" true duals with straight pipes still let the car run fantastic...LOUD but fantastic.
if anything it shifted the hp/tq peaks a little higher, but it still ran great.
put a 24" summit racing bullet muffler on there to just tone it down a little. takes out some of the rasp.

well i don't think it was the backpressure that fixed it.
otherwise why would guys run dual cutouts? or TDs even?
it was either in your mind, or something was wrong (false knock, air hitting the o2 sensors...etc).
remember...the purpose of performance exhaust systems are to reduce backpressure. so as long as you have enough exhaust length to allow proper scavenging (headers and a ypipe WOULD)...than you'll make the best power with the least restriction.
like i said it may have shifted your power peak around, making it feel more sluggish in the bottom end.

i've had from a flowmaster exhaust, to a dynomax bullet dumped before the axle, to a SLP LM1, to a Borla exhaust. After all those exhaust systems i settled for straight pipe. I took off the borla muffler and got a 3' pipe and clamped it in place of the muffler. I used some Corsa clone tips. its real loud but it performs better in my opinion. Check my exhaut sound clip on www.youtube.com type in BLKNREDPREDATOR2001. I have a TSP 383 stroker.
