Car runs better cold (open loop?)
I got my car last week, and it has seemed a little slow. I just thought that this was how they ran but yesterday morning I hopped on it while it was still cold and it ran WAY better. Normally it just accelerates from a 10mph punch (no spinnning) to baking tire from the same speed (when cold). What could cause this? Is it getting more fuel in open loop? Does this mean my O2's are faulty? How can I make it run like this all the time?
Thanks

What kind of temps are you running when you experience the sluggish performance??
Once the engine get above about 200 degrees, it starts to get heatsoaked and feels more sluggish. The best way to correct this is to get a tune, and have them set the fans to come on at about 185 degrees.

To me it feels a bit excessive. It honestly feels like 40-50hp, my buick is pretty sensitive to heat soak (intercooler) and its nothing like this car.
It runs at about 210.

Have it tuned. Sounds like you are correct regarding OL. Only way to know for sure is to have it tuned.

I'm going to have a mail order tune put in; do you think this will remedy the situation? or do i need to have it dyno tuned?
I know dyno is better, but it is also 3x's as much.

If your main goal is to eliminate the warm up power loss then mail order tune is OK. Just tell the tuner to specifically look into the warm up power loss issue & then have him call you to explain what he finds. This way you'll know for sure that is was the tune. Also, tell him to take it easy on increaing WOT (wide open throttle) timing. I have seen mail order tunes w/30+ degrees of WOT timing, which only causes the knock sensors to reduce timing due to engine knock. So, tell him specifically, no more than 26-27 degress during WOT. Good-luck
