Default HELP!!! AIR removal

so i am in the process of removing the AIR system from my car from the directions from ls1camaro.net. when doing it, there is no mention of the cylnder type thing behind the driver side check valve. this cylnder type thing has a hose coming in from the driver and passanger side header, as well as 1 going out to the air pump behind the head light. what do i do with this? just disconncet the hoses and leave it there? or should i take it out along with the hoses. also, it looks like there are 2 real samll wires going into the cylnder, what do i do with those wires?

thanks for the help in advance
jimmy

BTW, it looks soo much nicer with out those big metal tubes in there

I just yanked the whole thing out. If you're disabling the AIR system, there's no need to leave it on the car.

That's a vacuum solenoid valve used with the A.I.R. system. One of the vacuum lines goes to the A.I.R. valve, the other to the back of the intake manifold. Remove everything except the one going to the back of the intake manifold; that one you plug well or you will have a vacuum leak.

so i should leave the vaccum solenoind valve alone, and unplug everything, except for the little wire to the intake? also do i need to plug the vaccum solenoid valve where i took out the A.I.R. hoses?

I am trying to remember what it looked like when I took mine out. I know I had to take something out that left one little hose open. I plugged that hose with a screw. Just use common sense and leave anything there that is hooked to other stuff besides the air system.

did you remove the vacum solonoid? (the thing that the AIR hoses go into), or did you just leave it, and plug the holes??

thanks

Im guessing you newer LS1's are different from my '98.
When i removed my AIR system, it was just one hose coming from the pump splitting into 1 hose for each manifold.

You can go ahead and remove the solenoid. Just unhook the two vacuum lines from it and unplug the cable. You can even clean things up by getting rid of the bracket it was on, just yank it out of the manifold. One of the vacuum lines goes to the rear of the intake manifold; plug that with one of those little rubber plugs you get out of kit of all different sizes and colors from Autozone, Pep Boys, etc. The other line goes to the AIR valve and will come out with the valve.

And the removal of this entire system should not throw any codes correct? Even if you have cats/dont have cats?

It will throw a code. Just get someone with LS1Edit to delete the code.
