Default XR-1 borla install pictures...help.

Guys, im trying to tone down the loudness of the car with an XR-1 (part# 40085) on the I pipe. Right now all I have is a single chamber flowmaster over the axle. Ive seen pictures of the borlamouth on the ground off the car, what I need is some detailed pictures of it installed on the vehicle.

I just got back from an exhaust shop, and they said that there is NO WAY that muffler would go on the vehicle and not hit everything. I would love it if you guys had some pics of it installed under the car so i can print out the pictures, throw them in this ******** face (guy was very short with me), then take it to a real exhaust shop and have it installed. Any help would be greatly appricated.

thanks for the help so far guys, anyone by chance have a picture underneath the car while its up on the lift. Just want there to be NO questions from any guys as to where the muffler is suppose to go. I know it looks like its placed right before the rear axle.

I still have the stock Ipipe, so im guessing he will need to fab up a new "over the axle" pipe that is more of a 90 degree bend, then say a 75 degree bend that the factory pipe is? Thanks again so far for the help.

No pics but I can say from experience if your car has been lowered then you will smack that muffler on a lot more stuff. I pulled my out after a year of abuse. It was rewelded a few times and dented pretty good on the front half before I replaced it with a hi flow cat design for 6.0 liter trucks. Sounds mean. But in short that muffler will fit. Good luck.

As you can see I used a hammer pretty good. I would hit my sfcs before my mufflers.

I'll send you the cell phone pics tomorrow when I'm off duty. It was raining all day and I'm still @ the FD. My buddy and I both have the XR-1 on our F-body's with Pacesetters and TSP ORY's. The cars sound sick with my X1 and his MS3. I lost a few HP on the dyno but gained torque adding the XR-1 to my SLP LMII setup. (I also dyno'd on a built transmisison after the XR-1 install...) The small loss in power was worth the removal of the annoying rasp/pop noise.

BTW, my car was dyno'd on two different dyno jets after I installed the smaller Vig 3200 and the XR1 muffler. You can see the STD results were 395/357 (LM2 stock 4L60e + Vig 3600) to 385/373 XR1+ RPM 4L60e + Vig3200).

just some FYI for everyone, got it put on...this thing is QUIET! Its the XR-1 followed with a single chamber flow master dumped over the axle...car sounds like stock manifolds and cats, with a 40 series flowmaster.

Definately NO rasp at all either. Right now im pleased with it, will be a nice change of pace from all the noise im use to. Id be curious to how much louder it would get if i took off that single chamber flowmaster?

Why not just buy a resonator, it would be cheaper than the xr1 and in most cases give better ground clearence.

-the car is not quiet by any means. i live in a smaller town and have 3 warnings in my glove box for loud exhaust. I don't think i've ever gone down the street with out getting a stare, smile, thumbs up, or a nod though

its WAY quieter then just a single chamber flowmaster. thats for sure. Im sure if i took off the flowmaster it'd definately get louder. Hell I never once got pulled over or in trouble with just my single chamber flowmaster...you must be running that thing hard, or live in a strict town.
