Default LS6 intake

I was wondering how much horsepower would I gain by changing from a LS1 intake to the LS6 with the mods that I already have?

i would say at least 20 since you have heads and a cam, mostly stock cars gain 15rwhp by switching to ls6 i would imagine since you have more power that you would gain more..

If your going to the trouble of changing the intake, why LS6? I'd go perhaps F.A.S.T, or depending on funds a larger F.A.S.T with a new TB.

Also don't forget, when changing from an LS1 intake, you will need to change the coolant lines under the intake, as the LS6 and F.A.S.T are deeper, not leaving any room for the coolant lines. I believe you have to change the valley cover screws too. A guide to this mod can be found here:- http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=5

If you get an ls6 you can get a grinder or pliers and knock the tabs under the intake to make em fit without having to change the lines, either way there is lots of information in the search feature!

I noticed some torque, with just bolt ons. Dont let the coolent pipes worry you about the swap new one s are cheap, but if you have grand sitting around do a FAST 90/90 or just stick to a P&P TB and ls6 its going to be good for what you have and cam.

I would do a FAST if possible but you can get the LS6 pretty cheap. 10-15hp is typical accross the board from what I've seen.

While I am on this subject and before I put down the cash is there a way to tell if you have a stock or an LS6 intake without taking it off?

You can always check the part #, but if there is a EGR line going in the intake behind the TB it is a LS1 intake. Unless someone put a SLP intake on it.

well ur username is fast99formula so ill guess that u have a 99 formula, i believe that 98-00 came with the ls1 intake and 01-02 with the ls6, so u might have the ls1 unless it has already been swaped out

...or if someone put on an early vette ls1 intake thinking it was an ls6(no EGR)

^^^ that's something to look out for if you buy used. vettes didn't have EGR so sometimes people try to pass off those intakes as ls6's.
