Default can i remove tips and...

So i have the CME setup and well my CME tips are the original versions that dont have the extra bracket piece welded for added strength and they've recently broke in the middle of the bracket. Everytime i start up the car i hear a noise, then everytime i take off from a red light/stop sign or just taking off from anywhere. I hear the noise again and ive looked under there and cant seem to find any other reason other then it being the tips rattling against eachother and making that noise.

So my question is, could i just remove the tips and leave it like that?? Or go to autozone and buy those little turn downs you see in there exhaust section and clamp those on?? Im asking because im not sure if it would be safe to remove the tips and leave the pipes out there blowing all the air from the exhaust and them being near the gas tank.

I know i could just get them welded really quick, but i wanna remove them and really clean them up or i may just be a new polished set off ebay. Im redoing the exhaust system so i may add a polished set of CME tips to the exhaust while im at it.

Yeah just get the new set

OR

Go get those rewelded but also implement some clamps or flanges to the tip/pipes you already have so you can routinely clean them up.
