I would AT LEAST go with Pacesetters. They are proven. I love my Pacesetters on my old LT1 and my LS1.

Unless you don't ever foresee having enough money to get some great headers, then go for it. If you don't mind waiting longer for the best, wait to get some Kooks/QTP. They're the best, and you get what you pay for!

And yes, you'll notice a huge difference in sound when you upgrade to ANY long-tube.

Well worth it. Just did pacesetters and they were actually really easy (on jack stands) plus great fit, and quality. Just make sure to hit all the bolts with WD about 3-4 times before you start.

I've been a part of three LS1 header installs, and the only bolts I've broken are the collector bolts on the factory Y-pipe. The first car had more than 90k miles, so I wouldn't worry about breaking a bolt off in the head. They will come out.

Oh yeah...and headers are definitely worth doing.

Definitely worth doing, I refused to spend what stainless headers cost new so I shopped around and found a GOOD deal on a used set. But pacesetters are great as well and have several friends that run them. My roommate runs LPP headers and are a great bang for the buck stainless headers of great quality! If your gonna go new stainless I would go LPP.

I did my header install and the biggest job I had undertaken before that was oil changes and brakes. You CAN do it yourself and the bolts WILL come out my car had 100,xxx miles on it when I did my install and it went pretty smooth im my garage. You will learn alot about your car as well. Save yourself the money and have some fun! Wrenching is the best part of driving cars like these!
