Default 2 Cutouts or 1 Cutout, yes AGAIN!!!

http://home.att.net/~carlos.ramirez1...ic_org_pub.jpg

I saw these and thought Hmmmmm....
They are custom offroad pipes with cutouts to replace the cats on SLP LT Header/ Y-Pipe setup.
Now, I've already put a single cutout in the 2.75" I-Pipe, but I'm thinking these puppies may work great as I will not get the bottleneck effect at the 3" Y-collector to 2.75" I-Pipe.

[And yes, I plan on upgrading the catback... so no "why don't you just upgrade the catback!" responses please]

So, the ol' question... 2 Cutouts (at the Y) vs. 1 Cutout (at the I). Which should work best? Any proven results? I think I read once that PSJ ran better with one.

I would just stick with one in the Y if it was me. The gains seen by going to dual cutouts with your mods would probably be minimal.

Well, I'm thinking the 2.75" choke of the stock I-pipe is a factor. Plus, these offroad pipes could be incorporated into a future X-pipe true dual system.
What I wonder though is if the perpendicular flow is an issue, as the opening is at 90 degrees from the flow path, unlike the Flowtech style which shoots off at an angle.

Generally, a single cutout in the I is my preference also, but in my case (due to the 2.75" I), I think I can benefit from 2 in the 3" Y (though I don't know if the Y-collector provides beneficial scavanging).
Anyone have any comments regarding the design of these cutouts?

Also note; I'm gaining 23HP with open cutout, so this cam loves to breathe.

id do dual cutouts

but i think those would sound like a huge exhuast leak rather than cutouts

the flow would probably go right past the opening

Yeah, the 90 degree angle can't be good.
I could probably achieve the same results with 2 rust holes.
The compactness of the design woulda been nice.

Ah, yes, this would be the rational thing to do.

Like said above... I dont think that the 90 deg cut out is all that good of an idea. I would go with two off of the headers like the QTP y pipe... that thing sound mean

We have some results for you guys. This is on Pauls WS6. Untouched motor. Mods are:
Lid/Filter
Ported TB
QTP Headers
QTP Dual QTEC Y Pipe
QTEC in I Pipe

This was on Carteks Dyno

1 Cutout Open
339.7hp/355.1TQ
2 Cutouts Open
345HP/358.4TQ

I have to scan the dyno sheet in but there is NO loss of torque down low or anywhere else. Gains across the board.
I have to get my car on the dyno to see how heads/cam car reacts to 1vs2

QTP thanks for the info!
Do you guys fabricate dual electric Y-Pipe setups for SLP Long Tubes?
