Default cut-out question

I have stock manifolds and cats with a hooker cat-back right now, and it is WAY too quiet for my tastes. Currently, my budget does not allow for major $$ modifications, so I'm looking into a cut-out or electric cutout.

I was thinking of putting it in the i-pipe, behind the passenger's seat. My question is: is the i-pipe considered part of the cat-back system? If so, what size (diameter) i-pipe does the hooker catback have, and do I have to order the cut-out in this size? Would I get a deeper and more menacing sound if I got a differant (bigger) sized cutout?

If it isn't, then I will have to upgrade it anyway when I go for long-tubes, so it wouldn't make sense for me to put a cut-out in now... I hope this isn't the case.

Thanks folks!

You are correct, the I pipe is usually considered part of the catback. 3 inch cutout is what you need for the hooker catback.

Definately do the cutout because if you do headers later on you will definately want to uncap it anyway. I paid $26 for my 3 inch cutout from summit. Maybe next year I'll add an electric one.

Thanks, guys! Now I know what to ask for 4 xmas. I figure with an electic I can always turn it off if it gets too loud... and when I get headers... it will be loud.

Anyone see that episode of the simpsons where they got the elephant, stampy? And there were a bunch of dogs barking at night until the elephant trumpeted and then they all shut the hell up? Well, if I get a cutout with headers then those dogs will be ricers and I'll be stampy. hehe.

Didn't they shoot the elephant at the end of that episode?

Anyway, definitely do the cutout, I loved mine so much I went out and got the QTP dual cutout Y-pipe when I got headers.

definately get the cutout. cheap hp, and if you ever want to upgrade to electric you just pop it on and wire it up. the electric valve itself is a little pricy ~$130 but well worth it in my opinion.

Why dont you drop the muffler at the 3 bolt collecter and drop weight at the same time?
