Default Oil Cooler question

I am going to adding an oil cooler to my car. I am going to be using a Mocal LS series oil sender / thermostat housing. Its a sender with a built in 180 degree T-Stat.

I am looking at oil coolers and I am thinking of a 25 row cooler with a core size 11x 7.5 x2 inchs.

Do you think that is going to be proper size? If you run a cooler, what size do you use?

Also what -XAN fitting size cooler do you use? I have seen both -8 and -10 in the 25 row flavor.

I have a -12an oil cooler with no stat. I have a 10 psi loss with the -12an fittings. I am using a fluidyne http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLD-DB-30617/ and i am afraid that the flow is to low to support my needs I would go with one that had more rows. If you have the room go with the 60 row.

No room for 60 rows. I can do a 25 or a 30 maybe, not sure. I use a new ported LS6 pump so the pressure and flow are higher then stock. A 10psi loss through the cooler will still be good and in oem spec. The one I have been looking at are -10AN not -12, would that be ok?

And as far as the oil t tat, do you think I should run one, or not? I understand the reason behind having one, but I worry abut when the motors gets hot, the tstat opens and now cold oil enters causing sludging. So to me there are pros and cons each way.

if you run the -12 line then a reducer at the motor it will be less resistance on the oil system. You are adding a couple of feet to the oil system making the line bigger will help. I have a melling high pressure high volume oil pump. the t stat would not be needed but you have me thinking about one. The only thing that would be holding me back is what you said and again the oil flow throw it? not sure if it will reduce and possibly drop the pressure further. My ls1 is in a s10 and i see a increase in time to heat the oil of only 5-10min driving.
