Default Headers, help me...

As of now i'm torn between Kooks and Slp. It seems everyone drools over kooks and puts slp down for some reason. From what i understand (correct me if i'm wrong) Kooks and Slp are both on the high end of the scale for header quality and price. Kooks only downfall is their price, while Slp has price and ground clearance against them. I've heard Slp's (new designed headers) http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...oducts_id=2267
don't have any more ground clearance issues then any other LT headers.
Also does anyone have any first had experience on which sounds better and louder? i have a borla catback currently so it's either going to be Slp headers or Kooks headers to a borla catback.

Personal prefrence really. Most guys will say KOOKS no doubt. SLP has a bad rap from the ground clearance issues on the past headers. Haven't really kept up with the new design becuase I went with LPP's. BTW I doubt you will notice a difference in sound between the two headers.

i think almost all headers that are the stainless steel ones have a better sound than of those that are regular stee. Like comparing Kooks over Pacesetter's. I currently have the FLP LT's and theyre fine on my ta with teh G2 springs.

Wont be any difference in sound, only cats/no cats should change that.

Its all in preference man, get the best you can afford.

alright, didn't know if Slp had some dark secret i wasn't aware of. I'm leaning towards Slp, i can get it cheaper than kooks and seems to be an easy installation.

I have 1 7/8" Kooks and they can be a bear to install.

One thing though, if I had it to do over, I would get the headers coated to keep engine bay heat down.

I've got QTPs, I had a .250 inch clearance issue on the passenger side inside tube where it goes over the K member. Quality is good and beyond the K member issue the fitment is good. I would take a hard look at the American Racing SS long tubes if I was buying today.

Kooks give you very little clearance once they are on, try American Racing, Nick he is great and has been doing this for years.

I just installed American Racing SS headers and their catted Y and love it. It has amazing sound on my LM 2 and they fit like a glove. No real ground clearance issues and the install was smooth as butter. When I was looking for headers I was torn between AR and Kooks. I think either would be great but I love my American Racing headers.

Do you have a sound clip or video of your exhaust? I did Jet Hot LT's and Catted-Y matched to my existing LM1. I like it alot, but I have already developed some surface rust on the coating of the LT's and Y. Next header install will be the stainless ARH's and their Catted-Y. I know LM1 and LM2 aren't exactly the same, but I'm just curious how yours compares to mine. Heres a video of my setup...

I have ARH, ARH catted y and Borla and they sound great and will last forever. Fitment is great, ground clearance is great.

You might also consider the TSP 1 7/8" long tube header setups. Our header & y pipe combo without cats sells for about $600 or so & features a awesome new Y pipe with merg & fully coated 1 7/8" primaries!

Personally any header is going to show improvement. Just depends on how much you want to spend.

damn the new slp headers are a couple hundred dollars more than the tuned length headers. f that. if your gonna spend that much go with the kooks. i had the slp tuned length headers but switched to some TSP 1 7/8 headers and i am pretty happy with my TSP exhaust set-up in my sig. very happy actually. and my car comes on stronger now.

I have the LPP headers and they did rub the driver's k member just a tad, quick fix though. They are so much better looking then the steel ones that came off the car. I believe these are cheaper then the two mentioned.
