Default Decent OBDII scanner

Searching didn’t result in much usable content...

I’m looking for a OBDII scanner that I can keep connected while driving around to monitor stuff like knock sensor retard and transmission temperature. I’ve seen ones that have a mounted pod that will display selected stats. I’d also like it to be able to be able to display DTC’s and have the ability to re-set them.

Anything like this out there? If not, what are you guys using that works well and you like? I’m not looking to spend big bucks but I do expect it’ll cost upwards of a hundred bucks or so.

Thanks.........

If you want a scanner with a lot of live action data logging, you're going to have to spend the big bucks. Those elcheapo scanners you find in auto parts stores or Walmart won't cut it. Some of them have very limited live data logging but as I said, it's limited. They'll show stuff like idle, ltrims, strims, throttle percentage, etc. I have the best "Actron" scanner money can buy, and it's data logging couldn't really tell me anything I needed to know for this particular hobby. Most of them are mainly designed around general repairs. I use my HP tuners scanner software now, of course.

Find someone with a used HPtuner setup, or maybe find somebody willing to let go of their Auto-Tap cable cheap. It's very primitive software, but it logs almost anything you need to know.

I use this scanner. I works very well. I don't know if it has all the features you want, but it serves its purpose for me.

I bought the efilive v1 'scan only' version for $250. You need a laptop to see graphs and data while you're driving. You can set it up to do black box logging - where you log without the PC and then download to the PC later to see the data. It's a very powerful tool. Here's the v1:

They also have an efilive v2 'scan only' version for $400. It has a small LSD screen so you can read data on the go without a laptop. Here's the v2:

If you search in this room you will find a lot more info on this topic:

I have been using the Aeroforce Interceptor gauge for about 2 years it will do everything you are looking for and more like viewing misfires by cylinder, manual control of hi and low speed fans, ect, ect.
It is powered through the Diagnostic port so all you have to do is plug it in..

OK guys, thanks for the support. Looks like what I want will be in the Diablosport Predator at $350.00. HOWEVER, aren't these the same?
The Granatelli version is $299.00.

If your willing to play around some and use your laptop.. check out this site
http://www.aldlcable.com/sc/details.asp?item=daewoo

you can get cables and ODBII stuff and it has a list of free software links.. some are junk, other work well.. but you still need the cable and interface.

We had a Snap-on OBD-II scanner at the shop I used to work at. It was very pricey but I'm pretty sure you could control the world with it... aka it did absolutely everything.
