What's up everyone?
Just wanted to say hello to everyone on the board. I've got a black '02 WS6, stock (at least for now).
The first things I'm looking to change are the exhaust and the headers. I've pretty much settled on the magnaflow exhaust. As for the headers, I want longtubes and I'm thinking about
1) FLP's
2) Pacesetters
3) SLP's
The FLP's look sweet, but the price is pretty steep. The price of the Pacesetters is great, but why are they so cheap?
Any input would be great, thanks guys.

hey mike welcome
im not too shure what to recomend on the headers.. you might want to ask on the external engine section. after you do the exaust and headers you will prolly want to go with a better torque converter ... just a suggestion.. have fun, learn alot and welcome to the board.

Whats up dude, welcome! As far as headers go your going to see alot of different recommendations and set up's, so in the end it's really all about what you learn and like because it's your car that they will be going on. I personally like the Hooker LT's. They worked great for me and i really liked the improvement in power i got. Good Luck, and have fun.

it is sorda like a clutch for an automatic transmission car. It allows the engine to spin freely at idle while your transmission is in gear. (that’s why you don’t have a clutch pedal) it disconnects the engine from the trans at low rpm and turns the transmission at high rpm..... ... humm my explanation sux. how to put this better...... in between the engine and transmission there is the torque converter. it is filled with transmission fluid. one side of it is attached to the engine the other to the transmission. the torque converter housing (attached to the engine side) has ridges on the inside of it. the side attached to the trans is actually a disk that is slotted all the way around and looks like a fan. the "fan" sits inside of the housing... when the housing spins at regular rpm there isn’t enough force from the trans fluid to turn the "fan" but when you increase the rpm that increases the force on the "fan" from the tranny fluid. ......
sorry this isn’t too easy to explain after 12 beers....
here is a sight with a good product and some good info.

Welcome to the group
Mike,
Welcome- These is a great forum, with a super bunch of guys. I joined a few months ago and have been impressed with the depth of knowledge the members have. Everyone is always willing to help and not shy about telling you when you are off track. The best forum for LS-1 cars on the web.

Welcome Mike!
A lot of people run the Hooker LT's, I think they the best header for the price. SLP's are high quality but pricey. Basically go with what you can afford. The for sale section has headers for half new prices quite often. Be sure to do the free mods first. Good luck and welcome to the family!

Welcome to the site! I'd say start off with a lid and sub-frame connectors. As far as headers, I have FLP's and love them. SLP headers seem to hang pretty low from what I have seen, Hookers are pretty good, as far as the others I don't really know.
Peace,
Craig.

Welcome to the board, Mike!
You might want to consider the FIT of the header as well.
Crager already said the SLP's hang low. Some people have even had to grind part of their engine block for an install! Some are just a real BEYATCH to get in, and some slide right in! (No pun intended.)
You're on the right track.......ASK QUESTIONS! And RESEARCH, the search button is you friend !!!
External Engine is also a good place to find some answers. Good luck modding. You're on the right forum for info!!!

haha, thanks Cuda. yeah Phoenix, a lot of people have been telling me that SLP's are a pain in the ***, and also that Pacesetters have been giving people problems too (the whole grinding the block issue). Right now I'm thinking between the FLP's and Jet-hots...
