Just about any LT header with a Y pipe is going to bang..it can be fixed through normal hot rodding techniques.

the best way to fix it is with poly motor mounts. another way it to slide some rubber between the pipe and the floorboard.

My vote is to upgrade your motor mounts to either Polys or Solids (as always). Do it right the first time and you won't be dissappointed.

ws6store i know sells them. im sure almost all sponsors here sell them.

them motor mounts are harder, so the motor wont shake as much when its torquing. so the y pipe wont bounce under the car. and then without it bouncing it wont hit your floor.

Exactly.

I ordered my set of Prothane Poly Motor Mounts (Black) from byunspeed.com for $49.99. I ended up getting some header install supplies at the same time and spent the required $99 to get free shipping.

Installation can be a bitch, but there are some great write-ups on here. Also, I myself have been a part installing these on three different cars and there are plenty of other guys on here who I'm sure have done it more than I have. What I'm getting at is there is always someone who has done it and who knows the solution if you run into a problem. Don't hesitate to ask. Good luck.

I've only used Prothane Poly Motor Mounts. They come in your choice of red or black and I've had absolutely no issues with them. So I would recommend them.

My supply list for the header installs I've done included:

GM Factory Exhaust Manifold Gaskets. I used new on two of the installs and reused the ones on my bro's 35th SS with 4700 miles on it. So depending on the shape your's are in you could possibly reuse the ones on the car now.

We installed Jet Hot LT's with emissions fittings, so we used two new A.I.R. System gaskets per vehicle. As well as retained the EGR on Dave's 98 and my 99, so we used one new EGR to manifold gasket per vehicle. In your signature you state you have the "Race" style LT's, so you shouldn't need any of these gaskets.

You don't say what year your car is, but if its a 98-00 you'll be eliminating your EGR (with the Race LT's). If you still have the LS1 Intake you'll need something to plug the hole just behind the TB where the EGR tube inserts, b/c it will no longer be there. Some suggest using a proper size freeze plug, but what I would do is order an EGR delete plug from GM PN 12558346.

You'll also need some O2 Sensor Extensions. On the first car we did we used two Casper Electronics 18" Extensions. It worked fine, but there is alot of excess wire to tie up on the passenger side. So for the other two cars we used an 18" on the driverside and a 12" on the passenger. Casper Electronics Extensions are kinda pricey, but they're definitely the way to go.

You'll also want some nice band clamps. I ordered Accuseal 3" Band Clamps from Verocious Motorsports for $8.71 each. I think I used three on the ORY cars. One on each collector to seal the Y-pipe to it, and the Y-pipes are two piece, so one to clamp it together. I reused my Y-pipe to I-pipe 2 3/4" Band Clamp from the catback I have on my car, but just in case you can't you may want to order one of these as well. Your call.

And lastly, Heatsheild Tape for the starter wires that will now be very close to the high temps of your primaries on the passenger side. This **** isn't cheap either. Dave found it at a parts store, but I don't recall which one or the price. *sorry*

I went thru my receipts and I think thats everything, but if I should happen to remember something I forgot, I will post it ASAP. Good luck with your install. I glad you decided to include the motor mounts. They can be a pain, but they're definitely worth it.

Yeah. You can eliminate the two rear O2 sensors, but you will always have your front two. You'll need extensions for the front two O2 Sensors. Their location on the stock manifolds is much closer to where they plug in than where their location in the collector of the header is. Like I said, get either an 18" and a 12" extension or at least two 18" ones.

Why don't you try texas speed or one of the other supporting vendors listed on the right side of your screen...you won't find them for less anywhere else.

I believe I purchased four 18" extensions from Marylandspeed.com for like $50. Originally we were only gonna upgrade mine and Dave's car, so we only needed four. But then my bro wanted in on the act and I had to find two more. So I ordered two 12" extensions from byunspeed for like $21 each. More expensive than the Marylandspeed, but I didn't see any reason to spend more than I had to and get more than I needed.
