okay, so over christmas break i plan on doing true duals. I will be doing an X-pipe set up, over the axle (i wanna keep my CME) now should i go 2.5 or 3 inch all the way back. what kind of piping should i use ( i dont want it to rust) and does anyone have some pics of the true dual over the axel set up.
thanks again

If you are running OTA i would just use 2.5 inch pipe. It will be more than enough for your mods. If you are worried about rust I would look into buying some stainless steel piping.

No need for 3" unless you are putting down major horsepower.
FYI~ the guys I know that went from single 3" exhaust (like your SS) to duals picked up ZERO rwhp. Only the guys with stock 2.5 single saw gains.
But it does sound better. Quiet under part throttle and loud as hell under WOT. Just don't spend a shitload of money on it.

Duals shine with under the curve gains.

Also not sure what exhaust you are talking about but stock WS6/SS exhaust measures in at 2.75 unless he has loudmouth or maybe D/D.

right now i have a LM with LT's and orp, and i want to get rid of the rasp, and gain a deeper throaty exhuast sound

While I agree that 2.5" duals is more than enough for your current mods, I'd go 3" up to the axle, then after the first upward bend in the pipe to go over the axle, downsize to 2.5" pipe over the axle and out the back and be done with it. Since the exhaust gasses cool down the farther they are from the engine, the decrease in pipe size will help maintain the velocity and thus will still make good power. This way has been shown to make good power and will still get over the axle without problems. This will also give you room in case you get more power in the future. Just my $0.02.

As far as your mufflers I'd use 2 3" bullets before it goes over the axle with the setup I just described, stagger them along the length of pipe if necessary for clearance. Then, use another set of 2.5" bullets after the axle and before the CME tips. This should be a great deep sound, but still tolerable on the street.

2.5" is good up to about 500 hp. Only use one muffler on each side. Not 2 into 1, not 2 on each pipe......Real duals... two pipes....two mufflers.....crossover(X or H, whatever floats your boat).
