Default Loud exhaust, got pulled over by the po-po!

What is the best internal construction of a muffler to reduce noise level?

Ceramic packing
Chambered
Glasspack
Glass-wrap perforated tube
Perforated stainless tube with packing
Perforated tube
Sound attenuation rings
Stainless steel mesh
Straight-through baffled
Straight-through louvered core
Turbo-style
Wing plate

It's a 383 motor with a fairly big cam and a F1 Procharger pushing 13lbs of boost thru a TH400 & Gear Vendor OD with a 2800 stall 'verter and 3.73 rear gears. Point is, it's crazy loud... even though I have two of the smaller Dynatech bullet style race mufflers at each tip. I need to install a 3rd muffler inline next to the drive shaft. Thoughts on internals???

Chambered muffler will be more quiet than a straight through.

Here's the short version: just got the car back from the chassis shop after getting a roll cage and a few other things fabbed onto the car. Took the car out for a test drive the other night. Drove out of town... ok, ROARED out of town with my foot on the floor. Turned a corner and was driving back into town and was just coasting in. A cop just happened to be sitting in a bank parking lot and started following me. Yup, i thought. I'm getting pulled over. Sure enough. Lights come on... for a split sec I thought about dropping the hammer and going out in a blaze of gun fire. Cooler heads prevailed. Turns out, he heard my exhaust from two streets away. He gave me a "waiveable" ticket. I have to remedy the exhaust and take it to a police HQ and have a cop sign the ticket saying it's been corrected. Otherwise, I get a fine plus I still have to quiet it down.

Maybe a factory style exhaust with a cutout or two would be your friend?

get 2 hooker mufflers to replace the other ones and you should be fine and still get a good amount of flow (aero chamber to be exact)

The 3"inlet Hooker Aerochamber mufflers are a little too long to fit in the back @ 18" long. Plus, those are glasspacks. I'll have to take a listen to the sticky thread sound clips on glasspacks. I have no idea what they sound like.

Aerochambers arent glasspacks. They are a chambered muffler, look at the name. Get a stock muffler off some beat-up car and throw it on there to get you out of the ticket.

Have you considered a magnaflow muffler? I had 4x9s on my true duals when i got them, and they didn't wake up untill you got on it. Idle was a deep rumble, and cruising was tame yet sounded nice.

The SLP Powerflo system reduced the noise from mine a whole lot.

slide a couple of these into your exhaust pipes ................ or these
........

I'm sure they're designed to be welded in, but they could be the hot ticket to slip in and out as needed.
