Default Pcv System Alternative

well, after months of trying to figure out why my car smokes a little at WOT, i have came up with the best answer i can think of. and its that my pcv system is forceing my car to digest oil. i have seen right ups on how to put the in line filters on the system for engines that ping, mine doesnt ping so i dont know if this will help much. my question is why does the pcv system have to be routed back to the intake? couldnt you just put a breather type filter on there like we did in the old days? or does it reqire the steady vacume of the intake? can any one clear this up for me and answer a few of these questions?

thanks, chrismcdaniel

the intakes' vacuum would be the best way to vent the motor, unless you had an external vacuum pump or something
Some guys that used breathers, had the oil vapors get in the interior ventilation system, and had oil streaks going up the inside of the windshield.

I personally wouldnt go with the breather, just get a Greddy catch can, and call it a day.

is that an easy install? i would assume it is just an "in-line" filter system?

well its not really a filter, but you can say its an inline system
just run a hose from the PCV, to the catch can, and another line from the catch can to the TB
look up Greddy oil catch can on google, and a million sites will pop up with more info
I had a link to a how-to, on puting one on a C5, but lost it when my puter crashed. You can find it on google too.

After talking to a tech at thunder racing, i am thinking about just blocking off the pcv system all together and running a breather in place of my oil filler cap.
