Default Oil/Residue on Air Lid???

I was lookin at my engine the other day and noticed some shiny smearing on the top of my lid. It was a very thin film not globs or spots (looked like someone got a drop or 2 and smeared it around 2 or 3 spots). It's pretty slippery so definetely seems like oil. Its a H/C 02 WS6. Any ideas?? Car has about 57000 miles cam/heads where done around 10,000 or less miles ago.

Blow by? The PCV system vents back to the air lid on Fbods right? Try replacing the PCV valve if that's the case.

The oil is on the outside on the top of the lid.

Did you grease your hood latch lately? A couple of drops may have blown off onto the lid. The heat of the engine/rad may have spread it into a thin film.

Na I didnt grease the hood latch or anything. Is it somethin serious or could develop into a serious problem? What would be causing it??

I would test to see if it returns.

Wipe it clean and drive it. If it returns in a few days then try to determine the source.

Could be as simple as drops from the oil can when changing the oil.

Do you change the oil or someone else?

I change the oil, changed it about 900 - 1000 miles ago, germal castrol 0w-30. The car has never used up any oil before, but when I checked it yesterday after i noticed the oil on the lid, it did for the first time read slightly lower than the full mark, about an 1/8" below.

Im going to clean it (is brake cleaner alright???) and see if it comes back, if it does ill prob get that new design ls1 pcv valve that was originally made for gm trucks, gm part # 12572717.
