Installing my first catted Y tommorrow.
I can't afford headers right now but cant stand looking at that flattened out joke of a pipe on my car, so I'm throwing on a 3 inch y pipe I have. I first posted this in the wrong section so it's been moved to the appropriate section, here. So I'm doing this install either way but I'm just wondering if:
A) this will help performance/flow and by how much?
B) Will I still run into banging y pipe issues even without lts?
*it's gotta flow better than the flattened out pipe that's on it right? How it's worth it to have a squished up pipe to gain an extra half inch of clearance is beyond me .

According to the Mod Guide sticky it's not worth it:
Btw, great sticky if you haven't seen it already:

- Do Not invest in a new Y pipe unless you plan to stick with shorties/stock manifolds, and even at that it’s barely worth it since you'll gain practically nothing by a new Y on stock manifolds. If you buy a new Y for stock manifolds/shorties you'll need to replace the Y you just bought if you add LT's or mids in the future.
