Default Aluminum intake vs. ls6 intake

anyone have any dyno numbers or any other info on the aluminum intakes that are avaliable for ls base car. i cant seem to score a good deal on an ls6 anywhere, but ive heard the aluminum intake from professional products is just as good as an ls6 and actually makes more power above 4800. anyone own one of these or have on on there car? thanks for any info. chad

I have the Pro Products 85mm, haven't gotten to the track
in over a year since it went on. Their tests say a slight
improvement but I never believe vendors' own stuff. No
complaints here and I got some real good support from
them. But nothing quantitative for you.

there are usually used ls6 intakes in the FS section here for ~$300. idk what you consider reasonable but id take it.

hold out for the proven performer....the LS6.

unless you run into a killer deal on a FAST 90

heck i've seen some of those go for $600 lately

id love to find a deal on an ls6 intake but i have no way to pay for it. no pay pal or credit card or anything like that. and everyone is always 1k miles away or id just drive and get it. id pay 300 for one if i could find one. but i work at napa and can get a deal on the pro products intake so its really a toss up either way on price. thats not the issue its the way of getting it and paying for it. i was really just curious of power numbers and anyone that runs it to see what they think of it. ive read that it out does the ls6 almost all the way across the board. but thats why im asking.

haha yes id love a 102 fast. find me a deal and ill buy it!

you just have to wait until a deal comes up man. there is always a ls6 intake in the forsale section. just wait until you find one close to you.

guys, money nor my checking account is the issue. i was asking about the performance of the intakes. thats all. simple comparison is all i was asking. i will continue to look for a good deal.

01ssreda4..... you could buy me one if you want. i just rather not to deal on the net. rather cash and in person. im a face to face pesron. thanks for the advice tho.

I don't have any numbers either, but I can tell you that I love the weiand intake if you have access to that. My car runs a lot stronger, ALOT stronger. Did a race test, before and after the install with somebody else's car. Before, dead stop we were even, he would walk away at about 60. After with a BBK 80mm and intake I would walk him, he would start coming up on slowly at the 50-60 mark. Both auto's and both dead even starts.

I don't know if there's that big a difference in these intakes that u would really notice when driving but I have read the aluminum manifolds are heavier & heat sinks-both negatives in my book when racing

ok well yeah I can see it being warmer but have you felt your plastic manifold lately that sucker gets pretty hot as well. honestly lots of ppl have different opinions on this much as they do with 85mm mafs so im going to leave this alone I dont want to ruffle any feathers with my opinions

I'll one up you, I am in Arizona and drive my car in stop and go traffic and with the car still running you can put your hand on the metal manifold. Yes when you stop the engine it soaks up the heat from the engine, but if you start your car up again within minutes it cools down.HEAT SOAK IS VERY MUCH OVER RATED.

heat soak is a huge problem. i had the weiand and it held heat terribly, you could not hold your hand on the intake like people claim. i went to a fast 90/90 now and picked up huge gains and can lay my hand on the intake while running. On nitrous i made 527rwhp 530rwtq with the weiand aluminum. and with the Fast made 550rwhp 577rwtq. this is on a cam only ms3 car. save your money and get a fast

I have a weiand and with the car running for a long time, I CAN hold my hand on it. Now with the car stopped for 20 minutes or so after running, you are correct it is very hot. But once again if you start it, it cools back down. I am almost willing to go record the car for 30 minutes just to prove heat soak people wrong!
