Default Motor mount install info..

I am going to be changing out my motor mounts this weekend so I have been looking over the stickies, but have a few questions..

I will have the exhaust off because I am doing headers at the same time, and am going to do them one at a time. Will I still need to pull the ac and starter etc or is that just if your doing it without pulling off the exhaust?

nope just pull the starter off the passenger side and you will have more than enough room on both sides to install the motor mounts. Make sure you support the motor though and do them one at a time, its easy but make sure you got some ratchet wrenches cause it sucks without them lol.

I didn't need a vice to press them in...
I did headers at the same time as well. Used wood under the oil pan to jack with no issues. Didn't have to pull the starter, but I did loosen the AC and Alternator so I could push them out of the way to get some more room to work.

This thread has a ton of great info:

Good Luck.

I used a piece of wood with a floor jack on the pan. Be sure it's a big enough piece to evenly distribute the load. I didn't need a vice to do the mounts. I used a butane torch to heat up the clamshell which helps break the bond between the mount and shell. Drill the rivets out before hand. The mounts I had came with hardware to close the shell up over the new mount.
It's pretty straight forward, just time consuming.

Unbolting the ac compressor will make it a TON easier on the passenger side!

I agree.

Also, I used a block of wood on the floor jack with a folded towel in between the wood and the oil pan as a cushion.

i didnt seem to have any issues with the ac compressor, the starter gave me plenty of room when i unbolted it. Plus with the headers out of the way you got a **** ton of room, i did it all with the headers in when i changed my oil pan gasket.

my prothane mounts were like 1/8 inch off and it took forever to get them to line up by myself with the k-member out of the car so hopefully you won't encounter this problem.

I had to remove the AC and Alternator to get the bolt out.

Considered it, but I don't want to do it until I ride in a car with them.. and in reality the prothanes are cheaper and in most cases just as good, so I decided against it. I would have loved the weight loss the most from the solids..
