Default Poly tranny mount with stock motor mount?

I put in the poly tranny mount I bought from Ws6store. Didn't get around to the motor mounts yet. Will it hurt anything to drive with just the poly tranny mount? The stock motor mounts are in good shape yet.

I've heard that it can cause vibrations.

Dont hammer on it and you will be fine. When you hammer on it with poly trans but rubber motor mounts, the trans tailshaft is what is resisting rotation. Thats bad, as it is cast aluminum that can break. Possibly cracking the trans case and making the trans trash, more or less.

Your tranny mount should always be softer or equal to the motor mounts IMO

ive been using a poly tranny mount for years. Take it to the drag strip all the time. This might explain why my drive shaft is rubbing in my tranny tunnel under curtain driving loads. CRAP!!!

My son put a Poly trans mount on his Formula and it vibrated so much he took it off and went back to stock. FYI he has stock motor mounts.

I put the stock tranny mount back in today. I'll put the poly motor mounts in over the winter!

I've read in several threads that some people get vibration with them and others don't. I've also seen that people have posted to not use the metal plate that comes with it and to trim off the two nubs.

is his car an a4????... those seem to be the ones with the vibration complaint... i have an m6... grinded the 2 humps down and didn't use the metal plate... i don't have any more vibration/noise than i did before i swapped it out... i did my motor mounts at the same time though

I had a red polyurethane transmount in my -89 Iroc for a while,(stock motormounts) and it made a shitload of vibrations in the car! I replaced it with a new stock GM rubber piece, and the problem was solved. My buddy has the same tranny mount in his -98 Camaro which also has poly motormounts as well and he has no vibration problems at all

that could easily be due to a steel driveshaft...which were well known to be not balanced as well as the ls1 or 1le shafts.

who knows.

i know i put a poly trans mount in and noticed NO vibration, didn't notice anyting with my poly motor mounts either.
