Question K&n fipk

I have an older TSP Clear lid on my car that I'm trading my buddy for his FIPK. My question is; did anyone else go to this set-up from an aftermarket lid and LOSE power? He dyno'd his car with the FIPK and changed to an SLP lid during the same dyno and gained 5 rwhp with the lid. I'll chalk that up to dyno variance, but has anyone noticed a SOTP difference? Thanks guys and gals.

from wut ive read here the k&n fipk is inferior to any aftermarket lid. it blocks the air comin from underneath the car that would normally go into the lid. i bought my camaro less than a month ago wit a k&n intake and first thing i did was take it off and return to stock and cant say ive noticed the slightest difference. anyways, now i have an slp lid & filter on order from speed inc. from my research, they have the best price on it + free shipping

There's no appreciable performance difference between the FIPK and a lid. I have an FIPK.....I removed the entire kit on the dyno so only the throttle body was connected to the intake and I only gained 2 hp.

I have the K&N fipk, but I have a TA and it goes right up to the intake on my hood. I'd have to agree with jsteele90 for the camaro.

I have not been to the dyno, but i went with the fipk for fitment issues i had with the lid and my nitrous plate. It fits awesome. And it must flow more air, at least on my car. The air fuel went from 12.8 at wot to a 13.5. More air leaner a/f. It does log higher iat temps sitting at idle hot, but as soon as you get moving it cools right off.

i cut an opening out of the sheet metal directly under the filter on my FIPK. i went from an MTI lid to the FIPK thants on there now and didnt notice any loss in performance.

is it me or does your guys FIPK make a lot of induction noise?
