Yeah it's much cheaper that way. That's the plan when I get mine. Just going to paint them black. If you have some painting know-how; it's not that hard.

try some steel wool or a fine grit sand paper will take care of that rust in a sec. once you paint them you won't have to worry about rust again here is a link the stuff i was talking about so you can check it out http://www.jegs.com/p/PJ1/VHT-Header...49303/10002/-1

I bought some used Pacesetters that had surface rust. Completely sanded them with 180 grit paper to get all the rust off, then used two cans of 2000* paint, they still look good after half the summer. Very easy to do yourself.

how did you guys "cure" the paint? it suggests the following:

# 15 minutes at 250°F
# 30 minutes at 600°F
# 1 hour at 800°F
# 30 minutes at 1,000°F

Not entirely sure how I'd reach those temps without an oven or something... How did you guys do it?

when you put them on, start the car for a few minutes, turn it off and let them cool down. then start your car for a little longer, let them cool down again. and repeat. if you have a thermometer it would be easy, you should have to be THAT precise with it.
