Default Muffler recommendation

Hello all...

I'm going for a unique exhaust setup. I've got a set of pacesetter jet-hot longtubes I'm installing over winter, and picked up a set of boom tubes off of ebay. The tips are about 3x5 a piece and are welded together with a few pieces of flat metal, and don't have the mufflers built into them. Both are about 2.5 feet long. I'm going to cut them apart, and flip one around, and exit out of each side in front of the wheels (shorten as needed). I plan on just doing 2.5 duals with an H pipe, and some kind of muffler in front of the tips, just not sure what. It needs to be small, and as thin as possible, but I don't want it screaming loud. A bullet would be easy, but i know it'd be deafeningly loud, unless there is one thats quieter than the dynomax i've heard. The Borla XR-1 is about perfect, but i'm not shelling out 140 bucks a muffler. I've searched around and can't decide on one. What suggestions do you have for me? I don't mind it being a bit on the loud side, just not like a straight.

Thanks!

Go to Magnaflow's website, they have mufflers by size there, and it'll be cheaper than the Borla

Yeah I was looking at the 4x9's. I think 4 inches is about as thin as i can get.

Ya i'm going for thin and small as i can get without breaking the eardrums how are those far as deadening? Not sure if I can cram 18" worth of muffler in there, i was hoping for around 14" or so. The smallest 4x9 magnaflow has an 11" body. I'm considering a few cutouts too, but with a side exit i'm going to be short on room.

Hey, i have a 01' SS with long tubes and I run a magnaflow I used a 4x9 and it was a nice tone, but overbearing, and no resnting in the car. turned out nice except for my crappy welding.

I took a look at the photoshop picture you made and that looks good too. Except, Would that have the same effect, on cutting down the rasp, as having two mufflers inline of each other for each side?

Hey Gordo78,

These mufflers seem like they would be a good choice for what your needing as you can get them in pretty much what ever length you may need and I don't think they would compromise ground clearance much if any at all. Plus they sound pretty wicked from the videos I've watched bro. Too bad no one has a video of a set on a true dual system though.
