180* t-stat and fuel mileage
Hey guys - I recently added diablo tune and a 180 t-stat to the WS6. I used to get a solid 30 mpg on the highway (normal driving) Just made a 1000 mile roadtrip yesterday and she lost about 5 mpg, so i put the factory tune back in and still the same. The only other change was the t-stat - have any of you noticed a drop off with the lower temp? The weather was cold and the car was running cooler than it used to. WAZZZUUUPP

I can't go into a whole lot of details, but when cars come out of the factory, the stock setting (thermostat wise) is what the car is most fuel efficient at. A hotter car produces less power in turn for better burning of gas. A cooler car produces more power in turn for loss of gas efficiency.
It's just the price to pay. A solid 5 mpg though seems a bit much to lose.

Predator shouldn't change your mpg. I'm pretty sure your car came from factory with a 180* stat. But as said, hotter car kinda equals better mpg.
So, if you start your car on a cold morning and drive it before it warms to proper operating temp especially with the heater on...it will hurt mpg some. I don't know about 5 mpg though, maybe your just getting where your want to go a little faster.
Are you running the stock rear end on your '71, or did you replace it? Just curious, no particular reason though.
