Default 4 inch exhaust. anyone try it?

Found this on the web. I was wondering how it fit, any problems going over the axle?

People have done it but why? Its way overkill. 2 1/2 or 3 inch pipe is more than enough.

Damn 60 lbs.? Just get a 4" bullet and dump it. Flowmaster merge, Dynomax bullet.

Do you have a larger ypipe, what is the current exhaust setup? I used the 3" to 4" Flowmaster merge and had a local shop weld it all together with mandrel bends they had on the shelf. Ran me $400, plus whatever the merge, bullet, and turndown costs at the moment, so probably around $525-550 total.

I did it on my car with a 408. Anything under a 408 does not need 4" unless you are running FI.

Dyno & Video: http://www.eadperformance.com/35thvideos/chambered/

I was running Magnaflow Metallic Spun Cats in a 3" Y with a Flowmaster 3" to 4" Y, 4" I-Pipe, into another 4" x 3" Flow Master Y that was reversed over the axle to split it back into 3" for the tail pipes. The mufflers are 3" Chambered PowerPacks.

AAAH. Simple, bigger is better. I have true 3inch duels on my 71 Camaro. I like real loud cars. Right now I have headers, no cats, slp loud mouth.

Actually with the windows up it really isn't that loud inside. If I wanted sophistication and speed I would have bought a M3, not a Z28.

I live in FL, Hudson and drive through Brooksville. Hillbillies and rednecks wish their trucks and 3rd/4th gens sound like that. Anyone reading this thread been through the area and confirm what your average FL truck/fbody sounds like? Typically I think they just chop their exhaust off in front of the cat and call it a day.

I would check on here for a used one if you really want to go Mufflex, the price turned me off from going with them, buying their ypipe and catback new gets expensive fast.

I already have a 3 inch y pipe. I dont know what it would take to mate the 2 up. But it cant be that hard.
If anyone has one for sale, i'd be intrested. 4 inch cat back that is.

Default 4" Mufflex System

I run a 4" Mufflex up and over the rear axle with a Spintech Race Muffler and a single outlet out the back on the drivers side. Really a tight fit over the axle with a stock upper panhard bar. I eventually went with the BMR Adjustable Upper Panhard bar and now there's plenty of clearance. I run Kooks Headers with a Kooks Y-Pipe with a 4" outlet. The system sounds really good and it's pretty loud.

I run the 4" system with stock upper panhard and a Ford 9" and it fits fine! i wouldnt' trade it for any other exhaust. 4" Mufflex w/ Spintech...it's great.
