The carbon on the flange is from a slight leak at the tube weld. The AIR tube is fine.

my FLPs are OK except they do not fit my car and constantly bang on the floor boards; also clearance issues with the oil drain plug....other than that, they are great...??

Have you tried contacting FLP? Perhaps they would be willing to either repair, or replace your header.

My FLPs look just as good as the day I got them. I do the recommended polishing of them using Mother's Mag Polish (per the booklet that came with the headers). No banging, no hitting the steering shaft nut on turns. The minor issue I have is the oil drain bolt. It is almost out but hits the header. I just ever so lightly push where the collector and cat/off-rode pipe meet and the drain plug is out.

Seems that all headers have some issues (hitting K-member, finish is rusting, banging, etc). The main reason I bought the FLPs is the cat/off-rode pipe ability to be swapped out. Plus Mitch and the rest at FLP are great to work with.

Mine rusted bad within a year and it was parked in a garage last winter for 5 months. I only drove it in the rain 3 times also.
