Default New Dual setup questions....

Well, my exhaust system sprung another leak today and i'm just about ready to ditch the whole y-pipe idea and go true duals....heres my idea.

3 inch off the headers to an X-pipe into some kind of good quality mufflers and back UNDER the axle (i know a lot of people with this setup it does work). Just after the mufflers i would have flanges welded in so the tailpipes could be dropped to access the rear axle without dropping the whole exhaust.. then id finish off with 3 inch tails and my Loudmouth 3.5 inch slash tips....

1) how does this idea sound?
2) about how much would it probably cost to fab up????
3) would i gain or lose HP coming off my straight-pipe like setup???
4) whats a good quality muffler thats loud but not insane and FLOWS THE BEST?? (also it must fit under the f-body with some hammering of course)

Ultraflows are good, although a little raspy in my opinion. They're fairly quiet and perform very nicely. They have a good old-school sound.

I'd also look into Spintech mufflers. They sound real nice and perform nicely. They make a low profile version that can use an oval piping section for more ground clearance where the muffler is. I think the whole muffler is only like 2.25" thick or something like that.

I'm going with FlowTech Afterburner mufflers. They flow great and cost $39 each. Magnaflow ovals flow well also and are not as loud. Hooker Maxflows flow awesome.

We usually use Race Magnum mufflers, when we build them here.
