Broke my PCV line, what to do? Catch can, Breather or Factory PCV?
Alright gusy I just broke my PCV plastic hose it 3 pieces, kinda brittle for its age. I can get a whole new PCV hose and valve for around $90.
So what I am wondering, should I go the breather route, catch can or buy the factory PCV setup? If you do recommend a catch can or breather, please specify which one and how did you set it up.
I will be doing a New Era streetsweeper cam in the spring and am running the BBK SSI intake and soon to be BBK 85mm throttle body. There was definetely oil in the intake when I just took it off after 500 miles.

That's really an "and" question, not an "or". Do a search on catch can routing, there is some excellent information in those threads. Many on here (including me) recommend the PCV & catch can set up. For the PCV, if you want to maintain the stock appearance, go the plastic OEM route, otherwise, as stated above, you can use 3/8 fuel line and make your own set up - there is info on how to on the threads I mentioned. For the catch can, there are several good ones, I have the AMW unit and works well and looks good.

I am looking at the mike norris and rev extreme catch cans. They both come with a PCV in them already.
It looks like one end connects to intake and the other to the valley cover, is this correct?
Do I plug the other holes in the valve covers?
And also is a breather required in the oil fill hole?
The catch cans from Mike norris are like $95 shipped, about what I am going to pay for a factory pcv system.

may as well go with the catch can. for similar cost why go back to the oil sucking PCV factory setup?
with a catch can you don't run a breather. all the stock ports on the valve covers should be used even with the CC. you can replace the stock lines with 3/8" (i think) vacuum hose and a T-fitting to connect the 2 valvecover ports.

yeah that's one way to route it. the RevXtrem and Norris can have the pcv valve built in. so that isn't really needed, but that's minor.
the other thing is you can put a T fitting to run the "dirty air" out of both rear vents on the valve covers. rather than just the one side. not a huge thing...but still.

just don't drive with the pcv broken...car will run lean.
i had a small hole in my pcv and the pcm was throwing a code. scanned it and the LTFT were +25% fuel trying to compensate for the added air coming in.

I went the catch can route and never looked back. The amount of junk that was captured in my can after 500 miles was pretty impressive. The catch cans you get at Home Depot are not designed anything near the ones from revx or Norris are. There is a thread devoted to catch cans, a lot of information is available by searching in this section. As others have said, if you want to fix your current setup, go to autozone etc. and get some fuel line house. It will reuse the pcv valve and be really cheap to do. If you are looking into catch cans, you can't go wrong that route either. Good luck.
