Question Had Enough...How Can I Jerry-Rig A Oil Pan Leak?

Had a oil pan leak at the front gasket area. Dropped the pan, and resealed it...did'nt work. I need to try to seal it from the outside now. What sealant has everyone used for this??? Thanx

did you try to put on a new gasket? i would rather go that route before half assing it..not trying to bash you but usually doesnt end well. and make sure its all lined up perfect, good luck

JB weld?? I used Liquid steel to fix the aluminum oil pan on my wifes old Mercury tracer....it took 2 or 3 separate attempts with it but it doesn't leak now...instead I broke a bolt off in the valve cover/head and now it leaks from the valve cover.....go figure....

I use very little sealant on my motor bc the gaskets are designed to be used and reused DRY. The proper way to fix your issue is a new oil pan gasket and new front cover gasket and just a touch of Ultra Black where the cover and block meet. Dont overtighten the gaskets either. Follow the torque sequence and tighten to spec and it wont leak again for a LONG time.
