Default Different kind of Ram-Air

Okay paint drawing was a 10 second thing but may give an idea LOL

On Buicks this would have went to a front mount but could you remove the stock lid assembly, plumb a 4" pipe from the TB to the opening down below to a scoop? You could shove big air up there!

or you could look into this and keep your stock air intake and filter, and all that other stuff....this acts like the same as a scoop....

You would still need a air filter between the plumbing and scoop.

The turns are too harsh. If it was more direct, it would be much better. Look at the ram air set ups they have. They aren't 90* like yours.

So the WS-6 hood isn't really functional? With the lid my car has and the front baffles I removed out I can hear the motor on the outside of the car sucking air like a big Dog with the hood closed.

Seems it would push alot of air in at speed unless I am missing something.

Of course the WS6 hood is functional, along with the SS. These setups are more for the T/A and Z28 owners.

I had read somewhere before you don't get a good ram effect through the hood snorkels. Is the other setup a better ram-air then?

From what I hear, the SSRA is a lot more functional than a factory ram air. Supposedly, with a fan at 65mph in front of the car, it'll gain 13rwhp on an LS1. I wouldn't really believe it'd be that much. But, from what I've always heard, the factory ram air only gains a few horses at around 100mph. Just what I've always heard, not sure if it's right. I've got an SSRA, because they're not too expensive, so I thought I'd try it. It seemed to have done a little bit, but that could've been a change in weather conditions, or all in my head. If it actually does what it says, then it's a bargain for the price.

I would think that the ws6 hood is the best option. Its straight to the airbox no turns. Unless installing a ssra in adition to the ws6 hood has a benefit. Anyone ever try having 2 ram airs on your car at the same time?

The ws6 hood I would keep over the rest for optional ramair. The ss hood is also functional but the air does a 360 degree turn inside the hood.

I had a ssra on my last car (z28) and I liked it.

This has been discussed in several LONG threads. Best ram air for camaros is the SUX2BU or the chrs1313 style. Or SSRA if you still have AC. For WS6s, the debaffled hood or JAAM is the best.

they are not functional if they are not sealed properly. ws6 hood ram air is more of a marketing thing. you need the bg ram air to seal it up. if not it wont work. a z28 with an ssra is 100x better then a stock ws6 hood with no seal in it.

Agreed, SSRA for the WIN so long as you decide to keep the AC system. Worked wonders on my old SS and was definitely noticeable, IMO. What I really liked the most was the fact that it seemed to do a good job of helping the IATs/IAT sensor reach ambient or close to MUCH quicker, especially during the hotter months (110+ degrees).

If you do a search, there are quite a few results that have been posted concerning gains at the track.

Why not go with This Kitfrom WS6store.com?

This is what it looks like installed. the rubber seals butt up against your hood and creates a true fully functional Ram Air. to increase the effect greater you can cut out the baffles behind the nostriles of your ram air hood and create a straight path from the outside to the air filters.

^Good in theory, poor execution. I've read a few threads saying that it doesn't seal well at all.

I have seen it personally and from the impression left on the rubber, it seems to seal fine... maybe It just needs to be installed properly
