Default Headers/Spark Plug Question

Getting ready to get the engine back in and cannot remember if spark plugs need to be out to install the Hooker headers. Installing the plugs would be a nice thing to get done now.

Thanks for the help.

i actually think it was 10000x easier putting the plugs in without the headers on. lol. i dont remember having any trouble getting the headers around the plugs, and the plugs can be pretty hard to get around the header tubes unless you gotta buddy with nancy-hands. kooks here tho. just my .02

I had to remove the driver side ones but the pass side slide right around them.

Good luck

i had mine out when i put my headers in... i thought that is the only way it would go on... there is not much room under there so i would take them out... it's not that hard to put them in the with the headers bolted down IMO

I find it easier to install the headers without plugs. Then the drivers side plugs you can get from the top, and the passengers are easier from the bottom with the starter removed.

I think I will install the pass side plugs and do the driver's side after the headers go back on..... thanks for all the input.

Install the headers without the plugs. Safe that way also, no chance of breaking one off. You can reach the 3 front ones easy on each side with the new headers on. May even be able to get the last one on drivers side, but last one on pass side is best from under the car. My .02 and just did this last weekend, but granted, it was with shortys, not sure how bad LTs will be and getting to the plugs.

I'd do the headers and then the plugs. If you leave the plugs in while installing the headers, you may crack a plug. Plugs aren't that bad to get in around the headers. That's my opinion

i remove the coil pack on the passenger side and can get all the plugs from the top still a pain because i have the pacesetters with the a.i.r , the ones with out would be easy.
