Default Any reason not to increase redline to 6200rpm?

I was wondering if with my mods in sig, after I install the heads and everything, would my car benefit from the extra 200rpm or is my cam not big enough and I would just be revving higher for no reason. Trying to make a list of stuff I want changed on the dyno tune so I don't forget anything. Thanks.

Without a tune would it be bad to drive the 25 miles to the tuner also with the new heads?

stock redline is just shy of 6200....so YEAH...higher is better

with heads that cam should run strong up to 6500rpm. that's where i'd set my RL. that way you're shifting at 6300-6400

Im assuming youve swapped springs with that cam, but I dont see pushrods.

Id get pushrods before I turned up the wick at all. They are the weak point and should be changed on ANY LS engine. The stiffer the better, Comp came out with some .105" wall that I picked up. The normal .080" wall are more common and will work too.

I would seriously doubt that your tuner needs to be told where to put the rev limiter on your car..

isn't the factory rev limiter like 6199 or something?

and i'm sure the tuner will figure out where to set the rev limiter based on the dynograph..

I would think going up to 6500 would be safe, but again, as stated, the tuner knows best

Yea, vette doctors would know best but I wouldn't think they are going to raise my shift points without me asking them to. They wouldn't want to be in the situation where they do that without asking and then the engine breaks somehow.

SweetS10V8, I do have chromoly 7.400 pushrods in the engine already so I guess I'll go for 6200rpm. The rod bolts would be the weakest link then right? At about 6500rpm they break?

also sorry for accidently posting this in external engines, I was just looking in internal for this thread and couldn't find it, haha.

Rod bolts would be good insurance, but there isnt a certain point where they automatically break. Ive spun a stock bottom end up to 6800-7200 RPM a ton of times.

you need to see where the peak power is in the rpm. if peak is higher then raise it. if not, then theres no reason to raise it.
noone can give you a answer on driving your car without a tune. its probly not good but I think its fine just dont beat on it
