Default ls6 intake manifold swap

ok so theres a nice ls6 intake manifold for sale on this site for a good price part number`12573572. i want to put it on my 2000 camaro ss which missed the ls6 intake manifold from factory by 1 year! my last camaro was a 2002 and it seemed faster then my 2000, im guessing bc of the intake. first off is this 300 worth the money for a 10 hp gain and besides grinding down the bottom side of the new manifold so the cooling lines fit is there anything else i have to do for this to bolt up to my car?

It always seems like the 01-02's run harder than the earlier ones. Just must be a combination of the different casting heads and intake. Definitely worth swaping intakes + getting rid of the EGR as the ls6 does not have EGR provisions. You will have a check engine light on though unless you get the EGR tuned out.

Either Find someone that has a tuning softward like HP Tuners that can hook up to your car or bring it to a local shop that has tuning software. If thats all you need tuned a shop may not charge all that much.

I bought HP Tuners and do all the stuff myself. Tuned out EGR/AIR/and the rear O2's since I deleted my cats.

any local shop with hptuners or another ls based program should be able to erase the codes for you... if you plan on doing longtubes and deleting the rear o2s and air injection system then personally i would wait until you get all your bolt-ons done and get the codes deleted when you get the car tuned that way you take care of everything at once and don't spend money on the same thing twice

thats wat i will do just get the code erased from the computer. so i would just take the egr valve and tube out completely then block the egr port out on the exhaust?

Exactly. I just did the same with my LS6 install.

I haven't had the SES light tuned out yet, but its on the list. I'll probably send my PCM to Frost for one of his killer Mail-Order-Tunes.

imo i think '00s are the fastest ones by a negligible amount. if you put a ls6 intake it will be a good amount faster than the rest.
'00s have a bigger cam the the later cars. same heads, same manifolds as the later cars.
not saying this cause i own one lol

Man, you do a great job with those installation videos. I saw the one you put up of the installation of the springs. Good to see that someone actually takes the time to put videos like that up to help us all out!
