Default How loud is too loud?

I have a 2000 ws.6 and have been debating my exhaust set up for quite a while. I think I am leaning towards the true duals with either magnaflow mufflers or the Borla xr-1's. I also am Planning on some long tubes to go along with it.

I have watched tons of videos and listened to soundclips but you can't truly picture how loud the car is when your driving it.

I would appreicate some descriptions, such as it gets annoying on long trips or you know all the things you notice after your done with it.

This is a tough question to get accurate info on over the internet. Everyone has different tolerances. I think all the TD's I've heard in person are too Loud for a DD but others I know love it. You need to hear/ride in this cars in person to know what you want.

I have TD dumped and Longtubes. To me it sounds quiet just cruising around, but I'm really tolerant of sound. That may change after H/C. Don't hold back on TDs! Best change I've done to the car so far.

I have true duals, long tubes and bullets dumped before the axle. At idle it has a decent rumble to it and at WOT it roars. I personally could DD my car but its all about your preferences.

Like in my case, my sisters LT1 with stock exhaust manifolds, gutted cats, ORY, was loud in the car and i couldnt even talk to her when sitting in the back seat. But now that i got the car im puttin TD's dumped before the axle and i rode in someone elses car to see if i liked it, ya its loud but it doesnt get annoying to me. Again, its all preference.. Talk to some local LS1ers who have some exhaust setups your lookin into and then ask if you can hear it and then base it off that. Or youtube helps alot! ha

Is it like Rock n' Roll? If it's too loud you're too old?

I ordered my Stainless Longtubes from Hooker last week and they should be installed by the end of the month. I'm not looking for loud, I'm looking for an intimidating sound.

I have TD's w/ dynomax bullets...its loud enough in the car that carrying a conversation is difficult at highway speed, and the stock radio was useless

oh another thing...if I'm at any kind of rpm (3k +) I can't hear a horn or my own being blown to gauge how "loud" it is.

also loud enough to set off any car alarm at idle/start-up and cruising in a parking lot at low RPM's I havn't really been hassled by cops but I live in Florida.

I will be going to a Y setup with tail pipes and a E-cut out...best of both worlds.

the trueduals on a long trip get old as well...I'm 22 and not afraid of loud cars or "extreme" for daily driving I DD this car w/ drag radials and skinnies....however after 3 years of the exhaust...its to loud in the long run.

here are some clips

dyno http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJPVtd0SI3I

burnout/WOT

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CmUTJbSwvc

2nd one the speakers are blown out on the camera...(idle clip + revs)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wk3EWxnZEJM

hope this helps...

Chad

Exactly. There's a difference too from being loud just for the sake of being loud, or being loud and still sounding good. TD's almost always sound good. I DD my car 6 months out of the year and it never bothers me, its the best soundtrack you can get.
