Default Volant Intake

My car came with a volant intake on it and on the drivers side it has an open hole that looks like something should be plugged into. What goes there?

Off topic, but you didn't happen to buy this car recently from a Craigslist ad near Baltimore, MD, did you?

The car had the same intake on it without the that piece. I have seen several of the new Volant intakes and there is a piece there, but not all of them have it. I swear that this is the same car, it looks identical under the hood.

if your car is a 98 or 99 there should be nothing there the 2000+ had a breather tube that came out of the side of the stock lids... which I am assuming that hole is for that

It's for the AIR system on 01-02 cars, I believe.

Not the IAT, look at the last pic and you can see the back of that sensor on the back "wall" on the driver side.

Its for the air pump im sure, which means theres probably a 1" or so rubber hose just hangin out behind the bumper on the driver side somewhere...might have a smaller air filter on it, might not.

also correct me if i'm wrong but i thought 98-00 came with EGR/AIR, 01-02 just had AIR. so seiing that his car has EGR that means it's a 98-00. not a 01-02.

but like i said the PO might have deleted the AIR. ether way OP needs to do some searchin under the hood.

The car is a 98' with a newer engine of unknown origin, doesn't have the perimeter bolt valve covers. It does still have EGR and an air pump, I hear it cycle on when I start the car up.

Would anyone have a picture of where the line comes from the air pump on a stock car?

And yes, I did find the car on craigslist in baltimore.

That's cool. I was actually going to go look at that car but the blizzards kept me from making it out. I thought he was asking a bit much for it but it's hard to find a nice black m6 car these days. Best of luck with it.

01-02 AIR system drew filtered air from the airbox. xxxx-2000 AIR system drew unfiltered air. So hose on the 01-02, no hose on previous years.

Thanks for the info guys. Good to know nothing is missing, just meant for the later cars.

And as far as the engine, I know it has 241 heads so it must be a 00' engine.
