Default Trans Am being Parked.

today after a couple strong passes on the highway with the T/A, she decides to have alot of "knock" and vibration at idle. Put my hand over the tips and the right tip seems to have alot more pressure, not sure if that means anything or not. about 2 weeks ago I did the 3rd to 2nd misshift and after going sideways and getting the clutch in, it cut off, pretty ugly misshift. Now I believe it's telling on me. It's hard to explain but at normal 2500-3k shifts, it just doesn't run right. best I can explain is vibration, slight jerking, rare backfires. I'm not used to the new set-up but I really don't think thats the issue. I just had installed Kooks LT's and SLP LM1. It's defently not running right, not sure if I ever heard a skip but I believe it is.

thanks,
-Andrew

Pop those valve covers off and check each pushrod.

my buddy came over today, who has 3 LS1 SS Camaros with same generation but anyways he says it sounds normal to him. he has a torque wench at his home 20miles away. he wants to lets check them this upcoming weekend.

My question this time is, is backfiring after WOT a sign of bent PR? or is that the SLP Loudmouth talking? I'll do more research on backfires.

I wouldn't be doing any WOT runs until you figure out if there is something wrong. backfires sounds like a misfire somewhere, like a bent pushrod.

right...now were talking, you said a misfire would cause backfiring...more and more leads to pushrods...I'll keep updated on what me and my buddy finds. although I will have to drive it 20miles to his garage. As long as I baby, I shouldn't worry.

know who sells stock ls1 pushrods? I know WS6store has them but they are chromeloy. I don't want those because if I misshift again, I'd only hope to have bent a PR insted of valves.

Spend the money on chromemoly pushrods and be done. You'll bend any pushrod with a badly missed shift before anything else.

when we took the valve cover off, we seen that the far back rocker didn't have a rod in it. we're like WTF, go to drop a PR in and it didnt go down all the way. ran to autozone an bough a mini magnet. fished it right out. I may be lucky, I dunno if it had anywhere else to go but I'm sure it could have went somehwere else. I imagine that PR was already bent when I bought the car, my misshift probably was enough to snap it. Ugly misshift, I know

well smooth and quiet. backfiring is gone, smoke is gone, vibrations is gone, pulls hard, skip is gone.

now my buddy seems to think that the timing may be off, due to start-up high idle? 2400 rpms on cold start-up. I duno if thats bad or not, i'mma research alil on here and see what I can find.

my buddy now thinks the timing is off because it idles alil high on a cold start? could a bad misshift jump the chain? cold-start is like a 2300 rpm. car seems fine to me.
