Default e.g.r or a.i.r

im sorry to be asking this and i know there is info on it but not anything that really helps. so im pretty new with the whole installing headers thing. but this week i am getting some pacesetter longtubes and they are the race addition (i own a 2000 z28) now i have read you need to remove the e.g.r? now what is that and how do i remove it? and does it need to be blocked off? and also for a.i.r does my car have that if my car has e.g.r? if so how do i remove that and does it also need to be blocked off? just want to make sure i go about the install correctly and have everything hooked up and ready to go. any input is appreciated.

Using the Search Function effectively on this site will really help you.

See the pipe that is coming up out of the intake behind the throttle body. That pipe and the large valve that it leads to is the EGR. It Conncects to the exhaust mainifold on the passengers side. The hole in the top of the intake will need to be plugged once its removed. AIR is the two hoses coming staight up off each exhuast manifold. Its pretty self explanitory. Lookat your headers, look at your stock manifolds and you will see the difference in what does not connect to the headers. Use the search function and be sure to search titles only for EGR and AIR.

you said you have race style headers, they dont need block off plates because there are no spots for air or egr connections. the only thing you will need to do is plug the hole in the intake where the egr pipe went.

That piece can be ordered from Thunder also. Check in that thread I linked you to and follow the link in there. That part is located toward the end of the list.

you have to have the air and egr tuned out of your computer. id reccomend getting a tune anyway after you put headers on. i sent my computer to frost for a mail-order tune and had it back in a couple of days and was only about 140 bucks after shipping. just take off all the air stuff and tie the wires up.

On an 01 car, can #5 be removed when removing the air system?

I just removed the system, but I left #5 on and plugged the lower port on it that used to supply #4.

What is #5?
