It is a pretty popular cam for the 5.3 trucks, probably close to the equivilant of a 224 - 228 in a 346.

Doesn't everything from the ls1 sway right into a 5.3? Aren't they essentially the same just smaller bore and stroke and smaller combustion chamber??

Smaller Bore, same stroke. Heads flow about the same as a LS1 Head.

Ls6 cam works well but is more tuned to the ls6 style intake keeping the powerband high. The ls6 does bleed off a lot of low end tq on a 5.3 though

Pros are it'll idle nearly like stock, and you could likely find one cheap.

There are better grinds out there for the 5.3 that have much more benefit though

i would suggest to him something like a 224 grind.. he could definitly pick up good power all over with a cam like that over the ls6.. great manners ..

Yes it will...but...you will need longer pushrods as the LS6 cam has a smaller base circle than your 5.3L cam does...

I run one in my 5.3 powered 72 Chevelle wagon, and I wish it had more bottom end...but once it comes on , it really puts a smile on your face.
