Default Need help w/ meziere water pump install - themostat

I have an older pump that didn't come with a themostat. I bought a small block themostat and it lays flat on the pump, not recessed. The stock themostat housing still has the two progs that held the old themostat so it won't fit over the new themostat.

Does anyone know how it is suppose to work?

Thanks

Thanks, but I had looked at that and they don't address the two posts. That pump is a little different than mine in that on mine the themostat doesn't fit in lower than the surface.

I think you are trying to put thermostat in the wrong spot.It doesn't go where the stock pump had it but in the upper hole with the stock hole empty. If the tube is in the upper hole it will unscrew and thermo goes in. I had same problem so I hope this helps.

This is correct. You take out the stock t-stat from the water neck. Then put which ever one you want in the top hose of the pump where the fitting unscrews out.

Thanks for the help. The pictures confused me. I was trying to put the themostat in the wrong place.
