There is a 243 head package for $900 in the classifieds, it inlcudes all gaskets, hardware, lifters, good deal IMO. Just needs new springs and a cam

first off you shouldn't have bought a t-rex cam if you want driveability, especially with 241 heads, a high lift high duration cam like that needs really good flow to utilize its potential(241's aint gonna cut it). secondly i would have gone with a single plane intake...but thats just me. thirdly to effectively port 241's it's going to cost you....so why not just buy 243's? you say you don't have the money but you insist on wasting money by slightly porting 241's? when stock 243's can be had for about 400-450 and they flow better with less turbulence and have a slightly higher comp ratio. so to achieve the same thing with 241's would cost you more...trust me sell the 853's, sell the 241's, and buy 243's. with all the money you spent in other places why in the world would skimp on the heads? i don't get it...

I had ported 241's and didn't like them. I would go with a stock 243 head. A small motor needs small intake runners. Hogging out a 241 will make a stock ci motor lazy unless its got a power adder.

yeah i would say put em up on the classifieds(your local classifieds too) with pics and religiously bump till u get a buyer. you also might want to look into finding other crap you can sell, anything somebody might want. and try to sell it all at the same time. also i would say hold off on porting the intake for now. yes its a good idea, but i would say 243's are priority #1.

I just installed my stock 243s and put down 417/397 at the rear. My goals were 420/400 as well. I did this with a custom grind cam and stock maf, stock ported TB, stock LS6 intake, 30# injectors and full exhaust. You are heading in the right direction, but the 241s will hold you up. And like the others have said, it will cost you more to get a good port/valve job on them than to just buy the 243s.
Plus, down the road, you can always port and mill the 243s for even more flow and compression. I paid $650 for my 243s with the sodium valves and already installed upgraded springs. You COULD do the 241s stock to get close to your goals, but then you'll need a BIG Lift cam to get there with horrible streetability. From what I have learned on here, HEADS are where the power is and goals in mind, you wanna do it right from the get go.

FWIW A set of properly CNC'd and blended 241's will be about like a set of ported 243's. Its the same program run on the CNC. The CC will be the only small difference. If you get them milled then it wont matter.
And again, if you get the right person to tune your car it doesnt matter what kind of cam you have within reason. Most of these shelf grinds can be tame enough to DD with no surging/bucking/stalling. Granted gearing or converters will play a factor in what is useable.
OP - You are the first person I have ever heard complain about having a BBC with too much torque.

I have a set and have talked to TSP about a 2.5 P&P and was told they would flow right with the 243's. This also included the upgraded valves to 2.02 and 1.57 and milled to a 62cc from the 64cc that they are. All for $850. So why spend $900 on a set of stock 243's when you can spend less and get the same. You add the $150 you have spent already to the $850 and thats $1000 compared to $1750 if you went with the 243's. The savings would buy those injectors you'll need and pay for the tune.
There are plenty of guys on here making good power with p&p 241's so don't let the hype fool you. Stock for stock the 243's are better, but once work is done there isnt a difference in either. Just my .02
