I wouldn't have done that. Those ribs are a structural part of the intake.

Sorry, but I disagree completely. They aren't large enough to be of any structural benefit. Now it would be a different story if he cut out the structural tubes in the inside of the manifold, that's a different story.

I simply used a roloc disc on a die grinder and smoothed down mine and have no issues what so ever.

use the ls6 rear crossover block off plug. $5 and you dont have to cut your $400 intake to pieces, IMHO!

I'm on hardcore and never heard that knocking down the casting ridges caused the intakes to be 'noisy'.

Man this site is full of crap these days.

I have to agree. I just recently started browsing on here again. All I can say is there's a lot more mis-information than good. Kind of makes it hard for a newb to get the good info. I've sprayed up to a 250 shot through mine without any issues.

Totally agree with the above posts. I cut mine off and no noise. And its not like your "cutting the intake into pieces". Just grinding off some un needed material. My ls6 intake has been like this for about a year and NO problems

I dont know exactly, but I have seen cars do LS1 to LS6 swap and start having all kinds of knock sensor issues. Even with the OEM knock sensors dry and clean. Replaced them and issues persist. Weird.

Seriously!.... what noise?
And Structural.... Rediculous.
And a few people have even said that the block offs cause one of the cylinders to run hotter. Im not sure if its true tho.
Im not the premier expert on all subjects but I cant stand it when people come here and guess stuff and act like it is a known fact.

Why do you think GM put them there? To get in your way? They add rigidity to the intake floor.

They are casting ridges, nothing more. Just like the casting tabs on the block. Since the intake is cast in more than one step, it's to keep the floor aligned during the process so it doesn't shift.
