Default Just bought ls6 intake!!!

I think I got a pretty good deal, I just bought a Brand new never used ls6 intake with stock throttle body, fuelrail with 28 lb fuel injectors. All brand new. Ohh and new gaskets. All for $385 shipped. Can and should I use the new 28 lb injectors and fuel rail thats on it? I have a 99 that comes stock with 26lb injectors. Can I just pull of my old intake and leave all the stuff on it and put my new one on with the fuel rails on it and use the 28lb fuel injectors and all? Or is there a difference? Im hoping my stock wiring to the injection sensor thing will be the same for the ones coming off the 28lb injectors? Will I need to get it tuned for the different injectors and stuff? Here is a pic of the one I bought

Yes you can run them, someone did it with a custom cam and made some awesome numbers, given that they had other mods too. But yes you can do it but I recommend a tune afterwards to take advantage of this upgrade.

I wouldnt jack with the injectors until the tuner tells you anything about the fueling.

This is probably a stupid question. Will you gain anything on a lightly modded car with 28lb injectors over the 26?

I believe you have to tune it if changing injectors,do a cam also to make a tune worth your while.

No since the 26lb'ers are nowhere near maxed out.... I made over 415rwhp on my old 28's but I do not remember the duty cycle...

I was at 98% duty cycle with my 28's at 341WHP. That tells me something else is probably wrong then...

Just put on your 26's so you don't have to get it tuned

I paid $325 for LS6 intake/fuel rails/28#s/bolts and I used every one of them. My car ran fine and got it tuned later on. It ran 86% duty cycle with 28#s.

Theres a fuel line disconnect tool you can buy at the autoparts store, I forget the size. Unless your installing a cam IMO there would be no benefits to switching the injectors at this point, maybe save them for down the road. Its usually good to tune for the proper size injector.

Did you get the ls6 coolant block-off kit for the install too, or are you gonna trim the tabs off underneath?

What if I just unbolted the stock fuel rail from the intake and reuse it on the new one? Than I could set it out of the way and just use it on the new intake right? and yea I am just going to trim the tabs off.

Yeah, this is the best method, that way you will not have to disconnect the fuel system and worry about dealing with the injectors. I used a small chisel and hammer to trim the tabs, there are other ways as well to trim these off, dremel, chisel, etc.

You'll need a cap plate for the EGR for now until you install some LT's. I know there are a few vendors who sell them or you can make something to cover the hole on the stock exhaust manifold. Most likely you will throw an SES, you'll just need to have that turned off via a tuner.

On install, you need some tape or cloths pins to hold up the back 4 screws of the manifold when removing. Also be careful about the connector in the back, you don't wanna break it. There are tons of threads on this install on here, do a search (i'm sure you probably already have) and you'll find step by step directions. Take your time with cause your SOL if you break the connector in the back, you'll need to buy a new one.
